According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have identified Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies as a potential transfer target.
As stated in the report, the Red Devils are looking to bolster their squad under Ruben Amorin, with adding further quality to the left side of their defence being considered the main priority.
It is understood that Davies is high up on United’s shortlist, with the Canadian international considered as the club’s ideal candidate.
However, from United’s perspective, there is a sense that securing Davies’ signature will be difficult to achieve.
With Real Madrid still pursuing the 24-year-old, as well as Bayern looking to tie him down to a new deal, it appears unlikely that United will be able to prize Davies away.
Therefore, the Premier League outfit have sought out AC Milan’s Theo Hernández as an alternative.
The Frenchman’s deal at the San Siro is not set to expire until 2026, meaning that a discounted fee could be negotiated in the summer.
Nevertheless, should Davies depart for the Spanish capital, United could face competition for Hernández, with Der Rekordmeister identifying the 27-year-old as Davies’ replacement.
