Bayern Munich’s Max Eberl on Jamal Musiala contract extension talks: “Difficult yes, but not impossible”
Speaking on Sport1 Dopa (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich Sporting CEO Max Eberl commented on Jamal Musiala’s contract situation.
Musiala’s contract at Bayern expires in the summer of 2026 and it is well known that any of the world’s top clubs would try and sign him if the opportunity arose. On talks between Musiala and Bayern, Eberl revealed:
“Of course we want to extend Jamal’s contract, that’s not a secret. Talks are already underway and will now be intensified. Jamal should be the face of FC Bayern. Will it be difficult? Difficult yes, but not impossible. Jamal knows what he has in FC Bayern. It’s the club that took him to this level. We’re ambitious, we want to win titles, just like Jamal. Bayern’s goal is to keep Jamal”
Under the previous regime, Bayern had offered big salaries to players, which has now made it difficult for them to offload individuals in recent months. On the salary, Eberl said:
“Bayern will still pay top wages in international comparison, but maybe not to as many players across the squad”
Eberl also confirmed that Bayern are beginning the process of extending the contract of midfielder Joshua Kimmich, whose contract at the club expires next summer, meaning hypothetically from January he can negotiate a free transfer with another club. kicker has reported that Bayern have set themselves a deadline of the beginning of winter to know the future of Kimmich.
On the talks of a contract extension with Kimmich, Eberl said:
“We spoke to Josh clearly. This is an important time for him. We made it clear to him that he should become one of the faces of Bayern Munich. We will aim for an extension, it’s a big topic for us. Joshua feels very comfortable in Munich. We told him whether he still has the fire for FC Bayern, and he still has it. I won’t talk about contractual details here”
