Tottenham have been asked to make a big decision over the future of club captain Heung-Min Son.
The South Korean superstar is nearing the end of his current contract in north London but is currently on a sporadical basis as Spurs struggle.
Defensive injury problems have hampered Ange Postecloglou's side in the Premier League.
However, they have reached the semi-finals of the League Cup, where they will face Liverpooland they are also well placed in the Europa League.
Son has 13 goal contributions in 21 appearances in all competitions, but was nowhere near his usual form against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.
That form has taken the former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino to ask if the 32-year-old will get the new deal he wants.
And he believes there is a chance the next five months could be his last in north London, insisting that sometimes difficult decisions need to be made.
He told talkSPORT: “I don't think Son will stay at Spurs. No, I don't. I think it is one of them that also has to be made a big decision.
“It's been brilliant for them over the years, but sometimes it's time to move on in football.”
Tottenham have the option to extend the South Korean's deal, but talks are ongoing over a renewal.
However, Cascarino insists it would take a major resurgence in form for Spurs to pull the trigger on a new deal.
He added: “He will survive, or he would definitely be retained, if he had a great second half of the season.
“If he has that season where it hasn't really worked now, and then he scores 15 or 12 goals in the second part of the season and plays well, then Tottenham will probably use that option.
“But the way things are today, I think it's more likely that he can leave.”
Son, now the club's top assistant in Premier League history, is not the only top-flight star in this situation.
Kevin De Bruyne is in the same fight, but Cascarino believes Manchester City's decision to retain the Belgian playmaker depends on his fitness.
He added: “It is another great call for city of manchesterbecause if Kevin De Bruyne fits, then you still have a great talent. He still won't lose his ability to pass the ball.
“But they look a bit like a team manchester united. “They are running out of legs on the field in a lot of different positions.”
The Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood He also ends his contract in the summer and is in good shape.
Cascarino, however, believes he should be able to easily claim a new contract from his current employers.
He added: “I think Chris Wood and Forest will try to give him one more year, because it doesn't depend on pace.
“You're talking about a player who never has to think, 'Oh, he lost half a yard.' It doesn't matter if Chris Wood loses half a yard.
“If you have Anthony Elanga on one side and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the other, and Morgan Gibbs-White joining him, and Elliot Anderson joining him as well, they really don't need to worry about it.
“I could play one more year, no problem. So I don't see that as a problem.”
