Borussia Dortmund aim to reduce Niklas Süle’s salary by 50%

Borussia Dortmund plan on reducing Niklas Süle’s contract by 50%, according to SportBild

The centre-back has been missing for several weeks due to yet another injury setback. So far this season, the German has only played 10 games across all competitions.

Süle’s current contract runs until 2026 and there are no plans for him to move on, according to the player himself.

One of the main reasons could be his current yearly salary of €14m. The player knows that he isn’t going to get the same salary elsewhere at this point in his career.

This leaves Borussia Dortmund with an ultimatum: Let Süle’s contract run out until 2026 or offer a new deal and yearly sum.

As per reports, should BVB offer a new contract to Süle, his yearly salary will be cut by at least 50%.

Internally, Dortmund only want to pay double-figure yearly salaries in exceptional circumstances for world class players.

Simply put, Niklas Süle does not fit this criteria.
