After losing his starting spot against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can could find his way back into Nuri Sahin’s starting lineup against Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.
Borussia Dortmund have been underwhelming this season under Sahin with the club still looking for an identity. Despite a 2-1 win against St. Pauli in their last Bundesliga game, Die Schwarzgelben made hard work of it and face an equally difficult game in Augsburg.
Not to mention that they’re coming into this game following a 5-2 defeat against Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s Champions League final, despite racing into a 2-0 lead after 34 minutes.
Donyell Malen and Jamie Gittens, Borussia Dortmund’s goalscorers against Real, are both expected to retain their places with Karim Adeyemi sidelined for the foreseeable future. Sahin is also without Giovanni Reyna and Julien Duranville.
Defensively, Niklas Süle is out, which should see Waldemar Anton start his eighth Bundesliga game in a row for his new club, Borussia Dortmund.
Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Augsburg
Gregor Kobel – Julian Ryerson, Waldemar Anton, Nico Schlotterbeck, Ramy Bensebaini – Emre Can, Felix Nmecha – Donyell Malen, Julian Brandt, Jamie Gittens – Serhou Guirassy
