Julian Brandt faces a race to be fit for today’s Klassiker as Borussia Dortmund host Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga Topspiel. The 28-year-old was replaced in Die Schwarzgelben’s 3-0 win against Dinamo Zagreb with a thigh injury.

Speaking after their Champions League win in Croatia, Brandt said “it will be difficult” when asked if he would be able to feature against Bayern Munich, but there is some optimism in the Dortmund camp that he will be able to play some part, even if it’s off the bench.

Nuri Şahin also continues to be without Emre Can who is serving a suspension following his red card against Mainz earlier this month. That means a midfield trio of Felix Nmecha, who is improving of late, Pascal Groß and Marcel Sabitzer.

Serhou Guirassy should also return to the squad after missing Dortmund’s win against Zagreb. Şahin spoke highly of his top scorer this season, saying that he wouldn’t swap the Guinean forward for anyone, even Harry Kane.

Karim Adeyemi also continues to recover from a thigh injury and is unavailable.
