As reported by Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund have been able to negotiate a clever deal with Manchester City to sign Yan Couto.
Initially, it was understood that the Premier League champions were looking to permanently offload the Brazilian right-back. However, their demand of €30 million was considered to be too much for Die Schwarzgelben this summer.
Despite having previously sent a €20 million offer with €5 million in future add-ons, BvB have been able to navigate their way to finalising a deal with City.
As stated in the report, Couto will join Dortmund on a season-long loan, but BvB will have an obligation to buy him at the end of the campaign.
It is believed that the parameters for Couto to become a Dortmund player at the end of the loan are easy to fulfil, and it would be hard to imagine the right-back returning to City at the end of the season.
For the Black and Yellows, this is important, as this transfer will only affect the club in the following financial year. Therefore, Dortmund have saved themselves a significant sum of money that can be spent on other targets for the remainder of this summer.
