As reported by Bild, Borussia Dortmund will demand €40 million–€50 million for Donyell Malen this summer.
In the last year, Malen has become one of Dortmund’s most reliable performers and, in the absence of a consistent goalscorer, their most important attacking threat. With twelve goals and three assists in all competitions so far this season, the Dutchman has garnered considerable interest from numerous European clubs.
Nevertheless, while Dortmund would want to keep their star winger, it is understood that they are in desperate need of money. Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl believes that the BvB squad has stagnated this season and that an overhaul of the side will be required in the summer.
This would, however, lead to the sale of the club’s most valuable assets. With Malen having already stated his desire to leave the club, it comes as little surprise that Die Schwarzgelben would be willing to let him go.
The 25-year-old would also offer the club a significant amount of money to spend on improving multiple areas of the squad as they look to challenge for the Bundesliga title once again. As well as this, goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is also linked with a move away, with PSG identifying him as a possible successor to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Nonetheless, sales will be made at Dortmund this summer as they look to raise similar funds to those of previous seasons. Jude Bellingham and Elring Haaland’s departures saw BvB enjoy lucrative transfer budgets in years gone by, and they plan on raising similar funds this summer.
