Rheinische Post reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach will look to extend the contracts of several key players over the coming months.

Gladbach aims to secure their long-term future, the likes of Moritz Nicolas and Luca Netz will receive contract extensions first as they are likely to be key players for the club over the coming years. Both of their contracts expire in 2026, this follows the same trend with Rocco Reitz who extended his contract for the second time this season until 2028 this week.

The other player who could receive a contract extension is Ko Itakura. The 26-year-old’s contract also expires in 2026 and has a release clause of €15m and an extension may be complicated as Itakura has attracted interest from Liverpool and Tottenham over recent months.

Finally, Stefan Lainer will also likely get a contract extension as he missed the first half of the season as he recovered from Lymph node cancer. The extension will be for one year with an option of an additional one.
