According to Bild after only a year away from the Bundesliga, Daichi Kamada may be set for a return with Borussia Mönchengladbach showing interest in the midfielder.

With the likely sale of Manu Koné in the summer for around €35m as well as a boost in sponsorship money due to a new sponsor, Gladbach intends to continue their rebuild this summer.

A replacement for Koné will be needed and the candidates are Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Ao Tanaka and Montpellier’s Joris Chotard. Tanaka seems to be the favourite due to the low transfer fee of €2.75m, compared to Chotard to costs three times more. St Pauli’s Marcel Hartel who has 12 goals and nine assists in 23 games this season could also move to Gladbach due to his expiring contract at the Hamburg club in the summer.

While the biggest name that could arrive is former Frankfurt attacking midfielder Kamada. Currently at Lazio, his contract expires in the summer but with an option of an extra three years, however, Kamada has struggled for game time in Italy a move to Gladbach could help his career get back on track whilst also giving Gladbach the creative flair that they so desperately need at times.

Striker is also an area that could be improved. AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelis Pavlidis is Gladabch’s desired target but could cost €20m. The striker’s contract at the Dutch club expires in 2025 so a lower price could be renegotiated but the said price could still be too much for Gladbach. Die Fohlen currently rely on Tomas Cvancara and Jordan upfront with the latter only just finding his form at the club.
