Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach have yet to receive any suitable offers for midfielder Manu Koné, who is looking to leave the club this summer.
Koné has stated his desire to leave Borussia Park this summer and Gladbach will happily accommodate his departure but not club has yet to bid for him. The 23-year-old recently returned from the Olympics where he won silver with France.
Gladbach wants a fixed amount of €20m and a package that could rise to around €25m after they automatically extended Koné’s contract last summer until 2026. Last summer, Koné was linked with a move away from Gladbach with Liverpool previously interested in him.
The midfielder joined from Toulouse in 2021 with much hype which he delivered on, but in the past two seasons, Koné has struggled, not only with injuries but matching his level when he first arrived at Gladbach. This can be seen with his decreasing market value, which peaked at €40m but has gradually declined.
Koné leaving would fund Gladbach’s ability to not only find a replacement but look to improve other areas of their squad. In midfield, Die Fohlen have signed Philipp Sander from Holstein Kiel who can fill the role as well as already having academy graduate Rocco Reitz, Florian Neuhaus, Julian Weigl and Christoph Kramer who can all play where Koné does.
