Brennan Johnson has equaled Harry Kane's almost six-year goalscoring record for Tottenham with his latest goal against Brighton.

The 23-year-old shot by Spurs in the 23rd minute after a through ball from Dominic Solanke moments after they had a goal disallowed for offside.

Johnson was in excellent form for the north London side ahead of the weekend trip to the south coast, scoring five goals in five.

He has now extended this figure to six in six appearances in all competitions, equaling the club legend. Kane in the process.

The striker was the last Spurs player to score in consecutive games in January 2019, in three different competitions.

Of his seven goals, five came in the Premier League and the other two in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Spurs' night got even better in the 37th minute when James Maddison fired the ball past Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen after receiving a pass from Timo Werner.

Ange Postecoglou's side have responded well to their consecutive league defeats against Arsenal and Newcastle by scoring 12 goals in six games.

However, Brighton scored just moments into the second half through Yankuba Minteh's shot from inside the area.
