According to Florian Plettenberg, Brighton & Hove Albion are ready to sign former Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
Since leaving the Westfalenstadion at the end of the season, there have been a number of clubs looking into the possibility of signing Hummels as a free agent this summer.
RCD Mallorca were the first to state their interest in the 35-year-old, while Bologna have already sent Hummels a contract to sign for the upcoming campaign.
However, as of yet, the 2014 World Cup winner has yet to make a decision on his future.
This has allowed Brighton to enter the race to secure Hummel’s signature, and the Premier League outfit are ready to offer the 35-year-old a contract.
It is understood that Fabian Hürzeler has spoken to Hummels in the last few days regarding the project set out at Brighton, as well as the former Dortmund and Bayern Munich defender’s ambition.
The Seagulls value Hummels’ experience and leadership qualities and are keen to make a deal happen.
Nevertheless, the final decision will come down to Hummels himself.
