According to Ruhr Nachrichtenthe transfer of Brighton midfielder Pascal Groß to Borussia Dortmund is imminent as Brighton’s CEO also confirms the move.

Speaking on British radio station TalkSport, Brighton CEO Paul Barber said:

“Of course we would like to keep it. But we also think of the phase in which he is in his career and the opportunity that Dortmund could offer him.”

The comment from Barber all but confirms Groß’s move to Dortmund, however, counterpart Lars Ricken remains coy:

“I can’t say anything about Pascal Groß yet. He’s not our player either. That’s why I find it hard to talk about him.”

It has previously been reported that the fee for Groß will be around €7-10m. The midfielder is also expected to challenge Emre Can in Dortmund’s midfield and greatly improve their passing and quality on the ball. Eintracht Frankfurt had also shown an interest in Groß.

Since moving to England in 2017, Groß has been key in transforming Brighton from a newly promoted side to achieving European football. The 33-year-old was also able to play himself into the German national team where he played 45 minutes against Scotland in the opening game.

The midfielder will return to the Bundesliga where he made his name with Ingolstadt. The Mannheim native has also featured for Hoffenheim and Karlsruhe in Germany.
