Amid the constant talk around the future of Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen, it is not ruled out that he may stay at Die Werkself. To prepare for this, Bayern Munich views Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi as one of the top alternatives according to Bild and Sky Germany.
Bayern have already spoken to the Italian about potentially taking over at the club but they will likely face competition from Barcelona who are also interested in De Zerbi.
However, De Zerbi is not the only manager that Bayern have spoken to in regards to being the alternative to Alonso. The club have been linked with Antonio Conte lately and previously Sebastian Hoeneß but the latter has already extended his contract at VfB Stuttgart so a move for the nephew of Uli Hoeneß is unlikely.
But as things stand, Alonso remains Bayern’s number one target to replace the outgoing Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. It is unlikely that any sort of resolution to this situation will be reached before the end of the season.
