Ben Broggio was pleased to have helped Aston Villa secure their place in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, with an emphatic 6-0 win over Accrington Stanley.

Broggio opened the scoring at Bodymoor Heath on Friday evening, tapping home at the far post after good work from Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba.

The young forward is now looking forward to the challenges that face the Villans in round four, after getting the job done in their first game of this season’s competition.

Broggio said: “We went a goal up before they had the man sent off. After that, it was just making sure that we got the result and through to the next round, which was the objective of today.

“6-0, great result and obviously through to the next round which was the main thing.

“You want to make statements which I think we did. You want to get on the scoresheet and get goals and assists.

“I got a goal and assist today and so did a few of the lads, which will give us confidence and a boost into the next round.

“We’re all excited. We want to see who we get. We’ll be ready for it, and hopefully we’ll get through to the next round.”

Having played in a number of different competitions for different Villa sides already this season, Broggio is relishing the challenges which come his way.

The 17-year-old was named among the substitutes for Unai Emery’s side in last month’s draw against Crystal Palace, and continues to learn a lot from the experiences.

“It’s good to make a name for yourself in different competitions,” he added.

“It’s obviously different challenges, different teams from Europe, it’s good to test yourself against the best in Europe. That’s what you want to do.

“Tonight, I think it showed the level of quality.

“Being with the first team is good, you get to learn off the best.

“The people in my position are top players in the Premier League and you want to learn from them and be in their position one day.

“With the 21s, it’s good to play a level up, and push myself further towards first team football.”
