BSC: Aston Villa 9-0 Racing Club Warwick

Aston Villa won the Birmingham Senior Cup for the first time since 1985 with a thumping victory against Racing Club Warwick at Villa Park.

The Young Lions were switched on from the start and netted twice in two minutes via Omari Kellyman and Aidan Borland to lead 2-0 after 18 minutes.

Kadan Young added a goal either side of half-time before Kobei Moore drilled home number five.

Kyrie Pierre tapped home a sixth and Rico Richards bagged a quickfire double as the goals continued to flow.

Moore completed the scoring from the penalty spot in stoppage time as Villa claimed their 20^th Birmingham Senior Cup title.  

The Young Lions overcame Atherstone Town, Sutton Coldfield Town, Lye Town and Coventry City en route to the final, a run which included two penalty shootout wins.

Meanwhile their opponents were featuring in the final for the first time in their history after seeing off the likes of Birmingham City and Solihull Moors.

Following a competitive opening, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba got in behind the Warwick defence and slid a shot narrowly wide after collecting Sil Swinkels’ lofted through ball.

Villa didn’t have to wait much longer to hit the front, striking the first blow when Kellyman applied a first-time finish to Travis Patterson’s cross.

A second goal followed within 90 seconds as Borland pounced on a loose touch from ‘keeper Hathaway and slotted into an empty net.

The home side were causing problems everytime they ventured forward, with their pace and precision passing too much for their opponents to handle.

And they had a third goal to celebrate just past the half-hour mark when Young benefitted from a ricochet off a defender before lashing a shot beyond Hathaway.

A triple change at the break saw Lander Emery, Pierre and Moore enter the action as Villa looked to build on their lead.

And after Patterson saw an effort saved, Young picked out the bottom corner with a left-footed effort to make it 4-0.

Like they had done in the first half, Villa struck in quick succession and notched another via Moore, who hammered home after taking the ball down in the box.

The goals kept coming for the boys in claret and blue, and they scored a sixth courtesy of Pierre after the winger turned Triston Rowe’s low cross past Hathaway.

Number seven arrived with nine minutes left to play when Kellyman’s through ball landed in the path of Richards, who rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

Richards, who has recently returned from a loan at Stockport County, bagged his brace in the closing minutes as his deflected shot looped over the stranded Hathaway.

A deflated Warwick side conceded a penalty in stoppage time, allowing Moore to slot his second of the night.
