And the sixth came courtesy of a familiar face in east London after Rice unleashed a long-range shell that flew past Alphonse Areola.

But the England international, who made more than 200 appearances for West Ham, refused to celebrate despite the jubilant visiting fans.

Included in those celebrations was Saka, who had his hands on his head in disbelief after witnessing what his teammate had just done.

As well as scoring against his former team, Rice also provided two assists, something he had never achieved before in a Premier League match.

Arsenal fans loved Rice's goal, although some wish he would celebrate.

That includes talkTV's Piers Morgan, who wanted the midfielder to silence the booing fans inside the London Stadium.

He posted on X: “BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! 0-6.

“An absolute shout out from @_DeclanRice who refused to celebrate because he's classier than the West Ham fans who booed him. It's been the purchase of the century.”

Another wrote: “Fair play to Declan Rice for waiting until all the West Ham fans had gone home before scoring.”

And a third said: “Declan Rice clearly respects the party police.”

Rice was taken off immediately after scoring for Mikel Arteta, who also replaced Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard with the score in the bag.

In reality, the game ended at half-time with the score 4-0 for the Gunners, or at least stripes of West Ham fans That's what I thought after leaving the ground.

Arsenal will have a busy month in the coming weeks when they face Burnley next week but also Porto in the Champions League.

With the North Londoners chasing a Premier League title, European glory is also in their sights with some big hitters absent this season.
