Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was called “the most kicked man in the Premier League” but statistics say otherwise.
In a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal Legend Bob Wilson vented his anger at Premier League referees. for not protecting Saka.
He stated: “The referees don't seem to see it or understand it. There are always a minimum of two players within five meters of Saka and often a third. If they can't stop him, they kick him.
“People say, 'What do you mean? “That's too dramatic.”
“I say there has not been a player kicked more in the Premier League than Bukayo Saka“.
However, according to statistics recorded by Opta, Saka is not the player who receives the most fouls in the Premier League.
In fact, the 22-year-old is not even close to Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes, who is by far the most fouled player in the top flight.
The Brazilian has received 82 fouls, an incredible 29 times more than the third place on the list, John McGinn (53).
However, being close to the top with Guimaraes is crystal Palace star Jordan Ayew, who has drawn 80 fouls, perhaps taking over from former Eagles ace Wilfried Zaha, who was often on the receiving end of challenges.
Saka, by comparison, has drawn 50 fouls this season.
In addition to Guimaraes, Ayew and McGinn, the other four players who have received more fouls than Saka this season are Mohammed Kudus (53), Lucas Paqueta (52), Anthony Gordon (52) and James Maddison (51).
Among the ten players with the most fouls so far this season are Joao Palhinha (48) and Chiedozie Ogbene (47).
Arsenal have complained to the PGMOL about the treatment Saka has received this season.
They believe not enough has been done to stop players targeting the England international.
As possibly Arsenal's poster boy, Mikel Arteta He has entrusted the forward with a lot of responsibility.
Since making his debut five years ago, Saka has played 248 times for club and country, and has also scored 65 goals.
