Bukayo Saka joins an elite club that includes Phil Foden and Arsenal and Manchester United legends with a record win over Aston Villa
Bukayo Saka has joined an exclusive club of Premier League icons by starring in Arsenal's win over Aston Villa.
The Gunners sealed a 2-0 win at Villa Park on Saturday, with Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey helping to continue Mikel Arteta's side's winning start to the season.
The victory means Saka has now been on the winning side in 100 of his 171 Premier League games. Arsenal.
The winger is only the fourth player to achieve a century of victories in the competition before turning 23 in Premier League history.
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooneyformer Arsenal and Chelsea midfield player Cesc Fabregas and the current star of Manchester City Phil Foden They have also achieved the feat.
Saka will turn 23 on September 5, in less than two weeks.
Since making his debut for Arsenal's first team in 2018, Saka has become a key player for the Gunners, scoring 59 goals and providing 54 assists in 228 appearances.
He made Premier League history when he made his debut in Arsenal's 4-1 win over Fulham New Year's Day 2019.
At the age of 17, he became the first player born in 2001 to play in the Premier League.
Now, 100 league wins later, he has written himself into the history books again.
And Saka almost added to his first-half tally at Villa Park, but Emiliano Martinez brilliantly saved his effort.
He did, however, play a vital role in both of Arsenal's second-half goals in the Midlands, with Trossard giving the visitors the lead in the 67th minute after reacting quickest to Saka's deflected cross.
Just ten minutes later, he set up Partey for a long-range finish that gave Arsenal their second win in two Premier League games this season.
The result means the north London giants have equalled an incredible Football League record.
Arsenal are now only the third team, after Liverpool in 1982 and Manchester City in 2019 and 2021, to win 18 of their first 20 games in a calendar year.
And they got their revenge perfectly on Villa, the only team to have beaten Arsenal this year.
Villa did the Premier League double against Arsenal last season, with the defeats ultimately leaving Arsenal missing out on the title by two points.
And the Gooners will be hoping for plenty more to celebrate in the coming weeks with Brighton, Tottenham and Manchester City all on the horizon.
