Arsenal star Bukayo Saka will be ruled out until February, talkSPORT understands.
The winger recovered in the 23rd minute with a hamstring injury immediately after firing in a low cross in the 5-1 win at Crystal Palace.
Saka He hit the deck, where he could be seen holding the back of his right leg, before instantly pointing at the bench.
An Arsenal doctor came to his aid, but the 23-year-old was unable to recover from the blow and was quickly replaced by Leandro Trossard.
talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams revealed as a commentator that Saka looked emotional as he walked towards the tunnel, describing him as “distressed”.
Saka had previously suffered a hamstring injury while playing for his national team in October during England's loss to Greece.
He then appeared to modify it again during his club's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in November.
The player was photographed leaving the Palace pitch on crutches after Saturday's game.
Now talkSPORT understands the England star will miss at least five weeks of action.
By the end of January, Arsenal will have played ten games, including league clashes against Tottenham, Aston Villa and Brighton, while in their first game of February they will face reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
Also in that run are two Champions League group stage matches, Arsenal's FA Cup clash at home against Manchester United, as well as the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle .
Arteta admitted after Arsenal's victory that he is worried about Saka's injury.
He said: “We are quite worried about Saka's injury. He grabbed his hamstring and couldn't continue. He will have to be assessed but we are quite worried, yes.”
Saka has started all but one of Arsenal's 17 Premier League games so far this season.
The Three Lions striker has also started five of the club's Champions League matches, as well as one Carabao Cup match.
As he has been in previous campaigns, Saka has been Arsenal's standout player this season.
He has already contributed nine goals and 13 assists in all competitions, only 12 goals less than last season.
Saka would have hoped to add to his tally at Selhurst Park in what was his 250th appearance for Arsenal.
Only Cesc Fábregas and David O'Leary have reached this milestone at a younger age than Saka.
Arsenal's next game will see them take on Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium on December 27, live and exclusively on talkSPORT.
