Cadiz player seeks Vinicius Junior to justify controversial tweet from 2022 World Cup

Immediately after full time of Saturday's match between Real Madrid and Cadiz, which the home team won 3-0 after goals from Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham and Joselu Mato, Vinicius Junior was approached by Ivan Alejo, who had waited almost 18 months to speak to the Brazilian superstar.

During the 2022 World Cup, when Brazil was eliminated by Croatia, Alejo posted a controversial tweet celebrating his exit from the competition. Many perceived the tweet as racist, especially towards Vinicius, with whom Alejo had met during the meeting between Real Madrid and Cadiz in November 2022.

Alejo categorically denied these accusations, and Relief they reported that he sought out Vinicius immediately after full time to clarify the meaning of the tweet, and assured him that it was not racist. The Real Madrid player accepted the apology extended to him, and the couple separated.

Saturday's clash was the first time Alejo had the chance to speak to Vinicius since that tweet was published, as the latter was absent from the last two games between Real Madrid and Cadiz.
