Cameras capture strange moment 'desperate' Premier League fan strips down to his pants to dissuade penalty taker

Opposing fans will always try to stop a penalty taker, but one supporter went the extra mile to try to stop his team from conceding.

Wolverhampton Wanderers hosted Bournemouth at Molineux on Saturday, with the Cherries taking all three points with a 4-2 away win.

That was despite a Wolves fan in the stands doing everything he could to stop him from doing so.

As the Cherries man approached to score his hat-trick from the spot, cameras captured a supporter who had stripped down to his pants.

The fan had his legs and stomach on display and lifted his coat as Kluivert prepared to shoot.

However, the 25-year-old was unfazed, blasting his shot into the net and walking away to celebrate.

The good thing for the fan is that at least Saturday was a reasonably mild November day in the Midlands.

And fans on social media found the whole ordeal very funny.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures!” one wrote in X.

A second joked: “Another way of trying to dissuade someone from taking a penalty.”

Just as the fans couldn't help but stare at the naked fan, those on the pitch will have been glued to the crazy start to the game at Molineux.

Kluivert shot from the penalty spot just in the third minute. Wolves' Jorgen Larsen equalized in the fifth minute before Milos Kerkez put the Cherries ahead again three minutes later.

Bournemouth then took a 3-1 lead thanks to Kluivert's second penalty before 20 minutes had been played.

Larsen scored again for the hosts and reduced the lead in the second half, but Kluivert's final penalty kick five minutes later secured victory for Andoni Iraola's team.

£40m striker Evanilson won all three penalties for the Cherries, and was brought down twice by Sa.

The Wolves goalkeeper was held by security during confronting his own followers Saturday as tensions rose during their loss.

Gary O'Neil's Wolves, who have been in the top flight since 2018, sit third from bottom after Crystal Palace's late equalizer against Newcastle on Saturday.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, sit 11th in the league.

Iraola admitted after the game that he almost didn't let his taker take the penalty.

When asked about the penalty hat-trick, he said: “I don't remember it happening before, it has to be difficult, especially the last one; I wasn't entirely sure I would allow him to run the third.

“It's good, I suffered it in Spain (Kluivert spent a season on loan at Valencia while Iraola was at Rayo Vallecano) and I remember it very well.

“I guess it's difficult, every time you shoot the first one, you give information to the goalkeeper.

“You've been preparing during the week, he's had two different approaches in the first two, in the third he wasn't completely sure what he was going to do, but he's been very, very good.

“I guess I wouldn't have been happy but in the end I have to think about the points.

“I didn't make the decision to say anything. I hoped they decided the right thing, today I was full of confidence.”
