Bild reports that highly rated Nürnberg striker Can Uzun has already completed a medical at Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of a move to the club.
The fee of the 18-year-old is said to be around €18m and it means that Frankfurt have now found their long-term option at striker after losing Randal Kolo Muani in the summer and the loans of Sasa Kalajdzic and Hugo Ekitike are unlikely to result in a permanent move.
Uzun has already scored 13 goals for Nürnberg this season and his form attracted interest from Turkey over an international call-up for the upcoming break, whom he ultimately decided to represent at international level ahead of Euro 2024.
This will be Frankfurt’s fourth signing of the summer after agreeing deals for Aurèle Amenda from Young Boys for €9.5m, Krisztián Lisztes from Ferencváros for €4.5m and Uzun’s close friend Nathaniel Brown from Nürnberg for €3m.
Despite losing key players Kolo Muani, Daichi Kamada, Jesper Lindstrøm, Evan Ndicka and Djibril Sow in the summer, Frankfurt have not only been able to replace some of these players but have set themselves up for the future with a young core of players such as Farès Chaïbi, William Pacho, Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe and Hugo Larsson to name a few.
The club have also shown that they are now one of the go-to clubs to develop into a top player before moving on to a bigger team.
