Carlo Ancelotti praises Florentino Perez after Real Madrid reach Champions League final – 'He's the captain'
It was far from simple, though Real Madrid have booked their place in another Champions League final, after seeing off Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate, following a 2-1 win in Wednesday's second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was a hectic evening in the Spanish capital, with many moments. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti gave his attention to more than 90 minutes when he spoke to the media after full time, as per AS Diary.
“A fantastic match, with players who can't stop believing. It's magical. We played well. We had a good control of the game and then we had the strength not to lose our heads.
“We have to thank the fans and the club. And the players, because they had a season that no one expected. To reach the final is an achievement, no matter what. If I think about the days to reach the final, we have a great time.”
Ancelotti has taken much of the credit for Real Madrid's success this season away from himself, and passed it on to Florentino Perez.
“There is a captain here, and his name is Florentino Perez. The rest of us are sailors. He was able to create this great generation of players, and I hope we can win another Champions League.”
Ancelotti also addressed the pointless controversy which Bayern stated late, which left his opposition number one Thomas Tuchel absolutely furious.
“It is quite clear. It could have been offside, and the game stopped. He is a high-level referee. They will complain about that, and we will complain about Nacho's goal that he did not allow, because Kimmich dived.”
With the League already over, Real Madrid came now to see only the final of the Champions League on June 1st. They face another German heavyweight in Borussia Dortmund – and they hope that title number 15 will return to the Spanish capital.
