Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid do not “have a good balance” after being held to a 1-1 draw against Las Palmas.

Madrid needed a second-half Vinicius Junior penalty to level the scores in Gran Canaria after Alberto Moleiro had put the hosts ahead inside five minutes.

The result means Madrid have taken five points from their opening three La Liga matches.

“It was a bad first half,” Ancelotti said. “We have to endure and suffer a bit at this moment, the team doesn’t have a good balance, we are not quick in the ball circulation, it’s hard for us to win the ball back.

”We have to look for a quick solution and I think we’re going to find it.“

Moleiro fired low past Thibaut Courtois to give Las Palmas an early lead, and they could have been 2-0 up before the hour mark but winger Sandro sent his effort over the bar after he rounded the Madrid goalkeeper.

Madrid were awarded a penalty following a handball after 67 minutes, and Vinicius Jr dispatched the subsequent spot kick.

Mika Marmol had an effort saved by Courtois, while Kylian Mbappe fired into the side netting from close range at the other end. Las Palmas also had a late goal disallowed for offside as there was ultimately nothing to separate the two sides.

The draw marks the second time La Liga champions Madrid have dropped points this season, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca in their season opener.

Mbappe arrived on a free transfer this summer and Endrick officially joined Madrid from Palmeiras after agreeing a deal for the forward in 2022 in the club’s only two arrivals during the window.

Ancelotti has reiterated throughout the summer that he does not intend to make any new additions and he repeated this on Thursday evening, explaining the squad is ”closed“.
