Celta Vigo star admits to making costly mistake against Barcelona – 'It's a difficult day for me'

Celta Vigo were minutes away from securing a valuable point against Barcelona on Saturday night, before conceding a late penalty. Robert Lewandowski scored at the second time of asking (Vicente Guaita saved the first effort but it was off his line), ensuring that the Catalans won to Balaidos.

It was Fran Beltran who gave the penalty, as he caught Lamine Yamal late while trying to clear the ball. While some of his teammates were incensed by the decision at the time, the 25-year-old midfielder admitted that the referee made the correct decision, as per Relief.

“I had to come out and talk, because in the last game I made a mistake that I couldn't afford (to do). After seeing the game, I think I should have gone out with a head. The team can't lose these points, especially not for me. It is a difficult day for me and for all the Celta supporters, but there is no doubt that we will continue.

“We made mistakes that cannot happen day after day. Sometimes one and sometimes another. It's a lot of mistakes that cost points and that's why we are (in the relegation mix).

It was certainly a bitter pill to swallow Celtic Vigo, as they were very deserving of at least one point. Instead, they leave with nothing, as it were Barcelona he brought all three to Catalonia.
