Celta Vigo had something of a quieter transfer window this summer compared to last, but lost star striker Jorgen Strand Larsen to Wolves. They are mainly focused on their clearout operation before making additions.
Already seven players have left the club, and Sporting Director Marco Garces is expected to five more, as per Relief. Veteran defender Kevin Vazquez knows he has no place in the side, as is the case with striker Goncalo Paciencia. Tadeo Allende and Unai Nunez should be allowed to leave even for the right offer, and are the only players Celta are looking to replace.
Central midfielder Alfon, who played for the B team last year at the age of 25, but is to the liking of Claudio Giraldez, could leave in search of opportunities. The biggest problem is that there is no obvious place for him in the team. Less less if a loan for Ilaix Moriba is confirmed. Sport say that an agreement has been reached with RB Leipzig for a loan move for the former Barcelona midfielder.
The Galician team hopes for a season where they comfortably avoid relegation under Giraldez, who has maintained Celtic last year. For their centenary, Celta invested heavily in the players, manager Rafael Benitez and the vision of Luis Campos, but now they are picking up the pieces after everything went wrong last year. Anastasios Douvikas will undoubtedly be Strand Larsen's replacement, and he scored the same amount of goals as Strand Larsen last time around. He will likely have many more opportunities to surpass that total next season.
