The first four 'will be difficult'
Van de Ven speaking to Sky Sports: “We didn't have a good performance today. We can do much better.”
“In the first half we didn't try to play. We didn't advance when we came out. We tried to play in the second half, but today there was no confidence.”
“We have to look back on this game and recover better at the weekend.”
“(Being in the top four) will be difficult. I don't want to aspire to the Champions League after this game, it was not a good performance from us and it is important that we play a good game on Sunday.”
Pochettino: “It is the first time this season that I feel so happy”
Pochettino to Sky Sports: “We trust our players and even with the circumstances we find ourselves in today (14 injuries) we really believe it is an opportunity to show that we believe in what we are doing, in our philosophy.
“All credit to the players. For the way they approached the game, the first half, the way we defended and the way we tried to play.
“I think it is the first time in the season that I feel so happy because it is the moment when after 10 months the team begins to realize that we need to compete. And today we competed very well.
“I don't know if it is the best performance (of his mandate) but the most important thing is the feeling. With all the negative circumstances that showed that we are doing things well, but not only the click that we need to compete better but how? Be connected to the game, the entire team in both phases was connected.
“A few weeks ago we were talking 'what happened here?' “The standard was very, very low. In that process we were talking about time.”
