Chelsea chief executive Chris Jurasek, who once 'wanted three points in a cup game', leaves Stamford Bridge after 15 months
Chris Jurasek has left his role as Chelsea chief executive just 15 months after taking up his post at Stamford Bridge.
Jurasek was appointed in 2023 after moving from Clearlake Capital, which he co-owns Chelsea with the president Todd Boehly.
The club also confirmed that Jason Gannon, who joined Chelsea as chief operating officer in October last year, will replace Jurasek.
Gannon retains his title of chief operating officer but is also Chelsea's new chairman as part of his new responsibility.
“I am incredibly proud to have led this historic football club into its next chapter,” Jurasek said in a club statement.
“We have accomplished the task of building a team both on and off the pitch that means the club is well positioned for long-term success.
“I have full confidence in Jason and the executive leadership team that was put in place and am grateful to have played a part in its creation.”
However, sections of Chelsea supporters will not be too disappointed to see Jusarek leave the club, especially after he once yearned for three points in a Carabao Cup game.
Jurasek found himself on the wrong side of several supporters when he oversaw the cut in bus travel subsidies in August 2023.
The Premier League introduced subsidies for away fans, but Chelsea were the only Premier League club to keep them after its end.
According to the BBCThe subsidy cost the club £250,000, forcing Jurasek to cancel the scheme in an attempt to help the club become more financially sustainable.
In a scathing statement, the Chelsea Supporters' Trust (CST) branded Jurasek “tone deaf” and looked forward to what Gannon would offer as his replacement.

“The CST first met with Mr Jurasek in August 2023 ahead of the League Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon,” the statement said. By Nizaar Kinsella of the BBCread.
“During the tense meeting, he was hoping that the team would perform well that night and get three points… this set the stage for his tone-deaf tenure as CEO where he made no effort to build a relationship with any group of supporters.
“CST looks forward to working with Jason Gannon now that he has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer.
“This is a positive change that the club should take advantage of to rebuild the trust of the fans.”
The internal changes at Chelsea follow a massive shake-up in the summer transfer window.
New boss of the Blues Enzo Maresca He oversaw 11 signings at a cost of £201m, while 24 left as the club generated £166m in revenue.
Under Maresca, Chelsea have had a mixed start to the season, with one win, one draw and one loss in their first three Premier League games.
The club also secured a place in the European Conference League group stage after beating Servette 3-2 on aggregate.
