Boss Vicente Kompany was sent off by Darren England while arguing over Lorenz Assignon's foul in Mykhailo Mudryk in the 40th minute.
He Clarets The defender received a second yellow card after being ruled to have stepped over the Ukrainian striker.
Mudryk ran down the left wing and entered the area, where he tried to get ahead of the right back, who inadvertently pushed him.
Despite replays showing minimal contact, VAR failed to reverse the decision, with Kompany fuming on the sidelines.
And his lively antics saw him follow Assignon down the tunnel in wild scenes in Stamford Bridge.
Although this was not without further protests, as he initially refused to leave.
