Chelsea's attacking options are reduced and the Brazilian striker may receive an unexpected promotion
Nicolas Jackson is at the African Cup of Nations, Christopher Nkunku has a hip injury that could keep him out for weeks or perhaps longer, and Mauricio Pochettino doesn't seem to be Armando Broja's biggest fan, at least based on his quotes last night.
Things are getting critical from the start for Chelsea and we may see an extreme solution.
Right now, there are two possibilities that become more likely with each passing day as our options run out.
Firstly there is the much discussed possible signing. We can't imagine Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney being even remotely available this month, so he'd probably be a cheap bargain, a veteran on loan or something along those lines. That seems the most likely route if Nkunku's injury is serious and Broja continues to disappoint.
But the other solution is even more interesting: more minutes for Deivid Washington. He came on as a substitute last night to replace Broja, and we believe he will get more playing time in the two EFL Cup matches in the coming weeks.
If you impress, you could be in line for an unexpected promotion.
