Chris Wilder responds to 'incredible' Sheffield United fans who left after just 15 minutes during Arsenal thrashing
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder admits he 'fully understands' mass exodus of fans during defeat to Arsenal.
Blade Supporters left Bramall Lane en masse on Monday night after just 15 minutes with the gunners 3-0 up.
He Sheffield United eventually succumbed to a 6-0 defeat, leaving them on the verge of instant relegation to the championship.
AND wildestwhose team are 20th in the standings having won just three of their 27 top-flight games, have insisted they have no qualms about empty seats.
Speaking to talkSPORT following the club's third consecutive defeat, the 56-year-old said: “We still have a lot to play for.
“We have a huge commitment to our followers.
“I have to say that I totally understand people who come out on streaming, whenever that may be, and I have to say that I thought they were amazing.
“I'm not just saying that, we've mentioned it in the coaches' room, in terms of the fans who were at the game in the end, stayed at the football club.
“They love the football club as much as everyone else.
“They are suffering as much as anyone else and we have to go out and do it right.
“Especially here, because this is where they come and pay their hard-earned money to see.
“And at the moment, it's not a good watch for anyone.”
The statistics make for grim reading for United, who have now become the first team in English Football League history to score at least five goals in four consecutive home games in all competitions.
And they have become the first team in a top-flight season to lose a home game by more than five goals in four different games.
Wilder's men have also conceded a whopping 72 goals, with their average of 2.67 per game being the highest average in Premier League history.
