Barcelona defends Ronald Araujo he suffered a hamstring injury on international duty with Uruguay two weeks ago, and news of his return to the Catalan capital is far from ideal.
Initially, it was believed that he could miss six to eight weeks of action, but after further inspection, it was determined that Araujo ruptured a tendon in the back of his thigh. He needs surgery, and he will excluded for a minimum of four months, but chances are he won't be back on the field until December next year. Barcelona confirmed the injury on Monday afternoon, and say he will undergo surgery in Finland this week to treat it.

The injury comes at a particularly sensitive moment for the Blaugrana. With two years left on his deal, and no sign of a new deal, Barcelona were likely looking to sell him this summer, but that's probably off the table now. His exit would also have brought the necessary funds, which leaves Barcelona scrambling for an alternative plan of action.
