Crystal Palace have confirmed that Roy Hodgson He is “stable” in hospital after falling ill at his training camp.

The Eagles boss was due to speak to the media on Thursday afternoon, however his media engagements were canceled due to his admission to hospital.

The incident occurred during a first team training session in front of concerned players and coaches.

In a statement issued Thursday, crystal Palace wrote: “Unfortunately, today's press conference will no longer take place as planned Roy Hodgson “He got sick during training this morning.”

Later that day, the Eagles issued another statement to say: “Following the news that Roy Hodgson became ill during today's training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital.

“Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.”

Hodgson's press conference was to preview Crystal Palace's next match against Everton which will take place on Monday night, exclusively live on talkSPORT.

Just five points separate them from the relegation zone with Everton in 18th place, meaning Monday's game could be pivotal at Goodison Park.

However, given the uncertainty over Hodgson's future, it remains to be seen who will be on the bench for that clash.

Hodgson is in the on the edge of the bag at Selhurst Park after a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night.

The Austrian coach has verbally agreed to become the new Palace coach, after an impressive spell at the helm of Eintracht Frankfurt, which he left at the end of last season.
