According to kicker, Crystal Palace would have to break their transfer record to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Odilon Kossounou.

It has previously been reported that Die Werkself would be willing to allow Kossounou to depart the BayArena this summer.

With interest from the Premier League, it is believed that Crystal Palace hold the most interest in the 23-year-old, as they consider him an ideal replacement for Marc Guéhi, who has been subject to bids from Newcastle United.

Nevertheless, it is understood that Kossounou is hoping to move to either a top-six side in the Premier League or at least a team competing in Europe.

Therefore, Palace would not be an ideal destination for Kossounou, meaning Oliver Glasner’s side would have to offer a lucrative salary to tempt the defender.

As well as this, Leverkusen would demand a fee of around €40 million, a price that Palace have never paid for a player.

In order to lure Kossounou away from the Bundesliga, Palace would have to make the 23-year-old their record transfer, beating Christian Benteke’s €31 million arrival.

Ultimately, at this stage, it appears unlikely a move will be made this summer, but should Palace receive a significant fee for Guéhi, then they may be tempted to smash their record.
