Dani Olmo suffers his first injury for Barcelona

As reported by Sky Germany, Barcelona forward Dani Olmo suffered his first injury for the club during Sunday’s clash with Girona.

Over the course of the summer transfer window, there was considerable speculation regarding the future of Olmo after an impressive Euro 2024 campaign saw the 26-year-old lift silverware with Spain.

However, despite having a €60 million release clause at RB Leipzig, Die Roten Bullen failed to see any club trigger the clause in his contract.

One reason as to why this was believed to be the case was due to the Spaniard’s poor history record that had only seen him play 47% of the minutes available to him in a Leipzig shirt.

Nevertheless, Barcelona elected to negotiate a fee with the Bundesliga outfit, ultimately agreeing on a €55 million deal for the 26-year-old.

Having had to wait for the Blaugrana to register him with La Liga, it appeared as though Olmo was set to be one of the most impressive signings this season, registering three goals in his opening three appearances for Hansi Flick’s side.

Regardless, against Girona on Sunday, after scoring a tremendous half-volley from a tight angle to make it 3-0, Olmo injured his right thigh, and it is believed that he will be sidelined for four to five weeks.

Despite this, it is understood that he should be able to return in time to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League as well as Real Madrid in the El Classico.

The question remains; however, will persistent injuries be another regular occurrence for Olmo?
