Barcelona announced signature of Danny Olmo from RB Leipzig, their first major addition this summer. It is believed that the agreement is worth around 62 million euros, of which 7 million are variables.
The Blaugrana have tied Olmo to a six-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2030. The 26-year-old returned to Barcelona with Sporting Director Deco on Tuesday night, and the deal was announced the following Friday noon Olmo was pleased to return to the club in which he arrived until the age of 15.
“I'm very happy, it's a dream come true, back home with my family and teammates. I'm impatient to start, I'm very proud that Barça made this effort, that they want me.”
“They were intense negotiations, but that's normal. Everything was done very quickly with Leipzig and I'm also very grateful to them. Now a new stage begins and we're going for everything.”
He was also asked what he would bring to the team, with doubts about where he would play under Hansi Flick.
“Versatility, quality, first touch, I have already played with many Barça players. There is a lot of quality here, I want to play with players like Lewandowski and I am willing to contribute.”
And Olmo set his sights high on what Barcelona should aim this season.
“The goal is to win, we are Barça and we will compete for everything, we have a team, we have the players, we have the staff and we will go for everything,” Olmo told the club's media, as quoted by Sport.
Olmo showed during Euro 2024 that he was more than capable of making an impact at the highest level, emerging as the champions' top scorer and most effective player at the tournament, despite not starting three matches .
