David de Gea must be kept waiting for return to football due to 'unacceptable' wage demands.

For more than 12 months David de Gea he left Manchester United, but he has not yet made his return to football. He hopes to agree terms with a new club before the start of the 2024-25 season, but now, the chances of that happening are slim.

De Gea's most likely destination is Italy. Last week, he was heavily linked with Genoa, although they chose not to sign him after failing to agree personal terms. Since then, Fiorentina they studied the possibility of signing him, but again, an agreement seems unlikely at this stage.

The reason for this is de Gea's “unacceptable” wage demands, according to him TEAM talk. The 33-year-old wants to earn a salary of £5m a year – far less than the £19.5m he earned each season at Man Utd – but that is too much for Fiorentina.

De Gea must now consider whether to drastically reduce his wage demands to secure a return to European football. If he does not choose, a move to Saudi Arabia would be his best bet, as he would likely earn a lucrative contract in the Middle East.
