David Moyes is open to a surprising third spell at West Ham, talkSPORT understands.
Julen Lopetegui replaced moyes at the London Stadium this summer, but is under enormous pressure.
If he fails to get a result against Wolves on Monday night, in a match dubbed 'The Sackico', he is unlikely to last much longer.
It is now understood that Moyes would be willing to return.
West Ham have He had conversations with former Juventus coach Max Allegri.but would only like to take over next summer.
The Hammers could turn to an interim manager if Lopetegui is sacked.
A move to hire a carer before Allegri's arrival would open the door to Moyes' return.
The 61-year-old coach has officiated 261 games in his two previous terms.
He won 112 of those matches and guided the Hammers to consecutive top-seven finishes.
These were followed by a European conference league Triumph in 2023, ending a 43-year wait for a major trophy.
However, Moyes left the club when his contract expired at the end of last season after finishing ninth.
the later revealed that he had been offered a new deal earlier in the campaign before it was terminated by the owner David Sullivan.
Under Lopetegui, the Hammers have won four of 14 Premier League games.
Their defeat against Leicester last Tuesday leaves the Spanish team in 14th place in the standings ahead of the visit of Wolves.
The weekend's results have allowed their distance from the relegation zone to remain at six points.
However, Wolves could reduce that deficit with a win at the London Stadium.
