Robert de Pauw calls for his Aston Villa side to be more clinical in front of goal after his side’s goalless draw with Leicester City last weekend.

Villa dominated proceedings at Villa Park but were unable to earn the win as they couldn’t make their chances inside the final third count.

Speaking after the game, de Pauw said: “We didn’t get enough.”

“I feel that I have to repeat myself, the efficiency should be there, and we have to kill the game off – we got so many chances.

“Defensively, a very good performance, we did well.

“We kept the ball well and created chances but we have to award ourselves with goals.

“These are games that we should get the points, but we don’t and that’s a shame.”

Dan Turner impressed de Pauw during the game as she came into the starting 11 and helped the team earn their first league clean sheet of the new season.

“It was a positive performance, and I couldn’t have asked for more from her,” de Pauw shared.

“She gave a very steady and solid performance.

“To be honest, I could’ve put in three other players in the game, but I didn’t play them today.

“I can also only sub an ‘x’ amount of players and I felt that the four that came in gave an impulse in the game.

“I think that the subs are doing really well when they come in and every weekend it’s another head breaker for who I am going to put in the starting line-up but that is good.”

Villa are back in action this weekend as they travel to take on Manchester City, a side that the Villans beat 2-1 in their final pre-season fixture back in September.

Looking ahead to the game, de Pauw said: “We have to look to next week again.

“City, we played them before in pre-season and we know we can be good opposition against them.

“We have to focus on that now and be more clinical in front of goal.”
