And with Osimhen seemingly out of the equation for Arsenal, they could look to sign Sporting Lisbon centre-forward Gyokeres.

The Swedish striker, who joined the Portuguese side from Coventry last summer, contributed 43 goals and 15 assists in all competitions to lead his side to the league title.

Arsenal scouts saw him in action last season, and have even been monitoring him closely during this pre-season ahead of a possible move.

But it remains to be seen whether they will activate his £86m release clause or whether they can negotiate a reduction in the price.

If he ends up at Arsenal, he is likely to start above Havertz and Jesus to lead the line under Arteta.
