Deniz Undav on international teammate and Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger: “I’ve already noticed in the national team how he’s chickening out”
Speaking to kicker, before VfB Stuttgart’s opening Champions League game against Real Madrid, Deniz Undav had some choice words for international teammate Antonio Rüdiger.
On his international teammate, Undav said:
“I’m prepared, I’ve already noticed in the national team how he’s chickening out. I have to tell Demi (Ermedin Demirovic) that he should be prepared for the fact that he’s going to chicken out a lot.”
The striker then added if he has had any contact with Rüdiger:
“None at all, He focuses on himself, I focus on myself. We’ll see, maybe we’ll get a message.”
On trash talking before the game, the 28 year old said:
“I’m definitely not opposed to it. You won’t get me out of here with that. No matter what you do.”
The game against Real Madrid is Stuttgart’s first in Europe’s premier competition in 14 years, the last time they played they were knocked out by Barcelona in the round of 16.
Heading into the game, Stuttgart are coming off of a 3-1 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday afternoon where Deniz Undav scored the opener for VfB and Ermedin Demirovic scored twice to secure Stuttgart’s first win of the new season.
The game against Real will be a big challenge for this young Stuttgart side, not only because they are travelling to the home of the reigning champions, but also because the team is synonymous with the Champions League. On top of this, Stuttgart are also experiencing several injuries which could impact their league performances as squad rotation will be affected.
