Although the international break is still over a month away, it seems that Julian Nagelsmann already has his eyes set on another debutant in the squad, reports Bild.
VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav is set to be called up to the national team in March and has already been assured by Nagelsmann that he will be a part of the squad to face France and the Netherlands.
Whether Undav will be able to fix Germany’s striker problem and secure himself a place for the squad at Euro 2024 is currently unknown. The 27-year-old will be the third striker that Nagelsmann has called up to deputies Niclas Füllkrug after Kevin Behrens and Marvin Ducksch were part of the October and November squads.
Undav is Germany’s most in-form striker as in 19 games this season he has 14 goals and four assists with Stuttgart third in the Bundesliga and in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals. Initially brought in as a backup for Sehrou Guirassy, Undav has transformed himself into a key piece for Stuttgart this season and has easily taken the reigns from the Guinean while he has been at the Africa Cup of Nations.
