Tottenham fans will be worried after Ange Postecoglou appeared “disheartened” following their defeat to Ipswich.

That is the view of former Premier League manager Alan Pardew, who suggested the Spurs manager's behavior was worrying.

Spurs suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to the Tractor Boys after going two goals down in the first half in north London.

While Rodrigo Bentancur pulled one back in the second half, it wasn't enough as they suffered a surprise defeat against a team expected to be firmly in the relegation battle this season.

Things got even worse when Ipswich played a cheeky prank on him towards Spurs star James Maddison on social media after the game.

But even more worrying was Postecoglou's reaction when his Tottenham team was booed off the field, prompting the Australian boss to stare in a fan section.

As well as losing to Galatasaray in midweek, Tottenham's defeat means they go into the international break in tenth place in the Premier League.

But according to Pardew, what is more worrying is the Spurs boss's pessimistic nature.

Speaking on talkSPORT's Latest Word, Pardew said: “I watched Ange's interview after the game and he looked dejected.

“I have never seen him so depressed; He looked really down today and that's a concern for me because we're only 11 games into the season.

“When you have a bad performance as a coach, looking dejected is not the best gift you can give to your fans.

“You have to say 'we didn't have a good day, we had problems and we're going to recover next week.'

“The concern with Spurs is that we are going down the same path that you took last year and Ange didn't want to change and here we are again.

“We're 11 games in and still this inconsistency, this high line, he's still operating. “It must be a concern.”

Pardew continued: “When you look at the statistics (Spurs won five and lost five, tied one, 23 goals for and 13 against), unfortunately they have the marks of a very, very mediocre season.

“I said at the start of the season that Tottenham's transfer policy didn't smell like a team trying to win the league; it looked like a team trying to rebuild with younger players and hopefully get some nuggets somewhere down the line.” .

Things aren't getting any easier for Tottenham either, as their next game will be against Manchester City on November 23rd.

Inconsistency has been the Spurs' big downfall this season and Postecoglou took charge of that.

When asked why, he said: “It all depends on me. I don't get consistent performances from players.

“It's something I need to address. I'm the person in charge, so that's usually how it happens.”

“I take responsibility when their performances do not reach the levels they should.”
