- Aston Villa Vs. Bournemouth – Sun, Apr 21st 2024, 15:00
Moussa Diaby hailed a “fantastic” week for Aston Villa after they recorded a 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth.
Diaby’s ninth goal of the season just before the hour mark put Villa in front after Morgan Rogers had cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s penalty.
Leon Bailey then added a third for the hosts in the 78th minute, registering Villa’s 100th goal of the season in all competitions.
It sealed another big three points for Unai Emery’s side and came on the back of last weekend’s impressive 2-0 success at Arsenal and reaching the last four of the UEFA Europa Conference League in midweek.
“We played Thursday against Lille and got to the semi-final there,” Diaby told VillaTV.
“We also played here and we won.
“So, I’m really happy, this week was fantastic.
“But we have to continue this way until the end of the season.”
It is only the second time Villa have registered 20 Premier League wins in a season, with the last coming in 1992/93 when the top-flight was contested over a 42-match campaign.
The victory, which extends Villa’s unbeaten home run to five matches, moves Emery’s fourth-placed side six points clear of fifth place.
Reflecting on the triumph over the Cherries, Diaby added: “I’m very happy for the team.
“I think we had a really good game.
“Even though we conceded the first goal, we reacted very well in the second half.
“I’m very happy for the team and also for my goal.”
