- Aston Villa Vs. Juventus – Wed, Nov 27th 2024, 20:00
Lucas Digne hailed a third-successive Villa Park clean sheet in the Champions League, after Aston Villa were held to a goalless draw by Juventus on Wednesday evening.
The Villans stood firm against the threat of the Coppa Italia holders to put their 10th point of their European campaign on the board.
The Frenchman was pleased with the defensive output, and is now focused on this weekend’s trip to Chelsea.
“We take the point,” he said.
“I think it’s not a bad result, a clean sheet against a good team, a strong team, and we have to look forward.
“It’s good to get a clean sheet at home, and now we look forward to the Chelsea game.”
More generally, Digne reflected on this season’s new format in the Champions League, with Villa currently occupying ninth spot in the league phase after five outings.
They travel to RB Leipzig next month on Matchday Six, knowing a win would secure their place in the table’s top 24 positions.
The left-back added: “The new format is different, but we’re in a good position at the moment.
“We have to win the next game, and we’ll see what happens.”
