'Don't get so excited': Roy Keane shouts at Ian Wright in heated row after Crystal Palace win over Manchester United
Roy Keane and Ian Wright were involved in a heated exchange as the duo clashed over Crystal Palace's recent dismantling of Manchester United.
A double from Michael Olise, capped by some outstanding goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell, left the Red Devils embarrassed after a defeat 4-0.
And in the last episode of Stay with footballformer Palace striker Wright I was keen to comment on how the bosses of the two clubs made an interesting comparison.
He sparked the discussion by reflecting on his skepticism around the current United boss. Erik ten HagThe ability to change things at the club.
The Arsenal legend said: “I'm looking at (Ten Hag) thinking what else is he going to do? I just mentioned Oliver Glasner, 13 games, look how Palace have changed. Palace have just changed manager. How can that be possible? ? That long (for Ten Hag)?”
But his comments quickly irked his colleague and Old Trafford icon. Keanewho immediately joined the conversation.
He snapped: “Are you comparing Crystal Palace to Man United? Where are Palace in the league? Palace are on a good run at home.”
Wright tried to explain further: “But Palace just changed manager 13 games ago.”
Keane chimed in once again: “So Palace have all the answers? Do you know why they're doing well, Palace? Because they're playing two of their best players. They've got two very good players playing. They're 14th in the league, so Don't get so excited about Palace.”
“It has nothing to do with getting excited about Crystal Palace,” Wright replied, as the discussion grew increasingly heated.
He continued: “The reason I'm excited about Palace is because their manager is changing things for them.”
He added: “We are talking about Adam Wharton and (Will) Hughes who now play great football and pass it. They have a game structure.”
But Keane then interrupted by asking about Palace's current 14th place in the Premier League table.
He was quickly met with Wright's fervent response: “I don't care where they are!”
Keane cheekily responded: “You don't care where they are! It's very important where you are in the standings.”
Wright was visibly frustrated with the sarcasm and responded by calling the Irishman's comments “mocking”, something Keane strongly denied.
“Palace is the team that absolutely defeated United!” Wright reminded everyone.
In the end, the former Leona was necessary Jill Scott to intervene and calm things down.
She told the couple: “Now, let's hold hands and make peace.”
While Keane and Wright may have put their debate on hold for now, their former teams will resume the rivalry on Sunday, May 12.
