Doubts raised over €15m deal for Barcelona defender, Porto not contacted

In recent days, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Mikayil Faye, whose time in Barcelona seems to be coming to an end. Various sources have claimed that the young Senegalese is close to signing for Porto in a deal worth €15 million plus add-ons. However, doubts have been cast on this.

As reported by MD, Barcelona has not yet spoken directly to Porto regarding an agreement for Faye. Club officials consider it completely natural that the player's agent is in Portugal, but contact between the two clubs has not yet been made.

Contrary to recent reports, Barcelona is in no rush to sell Faye before the end of the 2023-24 financial year. His plan is simple: keep him for the pre-season, thus allowing Hansi Flick to run the rule over him. If he impresses, he could stay as part of the first team, and a sale would likely be ruled out (unless an offer too good to refuse was received).

Faye's situation is very interesting. It makes sense for Barcelona to consider a sale if he is not wanted, but in the end, that cannot be determined until the pre-season, when Flick will give his verdict. So, it would be a surprise if there was any concrete movement in the coming days/weeks.
