- Liverpool Vs. Aston Villa – Sat, Nov 9th 2024, 20:00
Jhon Durán is keen to reach new levels with Aston Villa, having made a strong start to the campaign with eight goals in his first 16 matches.
The striker spoke ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League trip to Liverpool (ko 8pm), where Villa look to get back on the winning trail following last weekend’s defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
And, after establishing himself as the club’s top goalscorer in all competitions this season, Durán wants to continue contributing towards his side’s positive fortunes on the field.
He said: “There’s always a new level to reach, and I hope we can achieve it.
“[My objective is] To keep working, contributing to the team, the club.
“[I want to] Continue being in the top part of the table and, well, that’s all. Above all, I want to help the team and then the goals will follow.
“I’m happy with how we’ve started, and I hope we continue like this.”
The Colombian frontman further broke down the start he has made to the season, and the key behind the red-hot form he has enjoyed.
Durán heaped praise on his teammates and the spirit which unites them, admitting this makes his job as a goalscorer easier.
“I think the work is a team effort,” the 20-year-old added.
“It’s the support from the team. We start all together. It’s a lot easier to work as a team than individually, and so I think my great start is above all down to the team and the work we do together.
“Most players want to play, but with the time I am given, I think I am making the most of it in the best way, learning more every time.
“When it’s my moment, I get involved, and always give my best.”
